Tiny Living in Georgia
We were in Charleston, South Carolina visiting my amazing family and noticed a post from Mandy Lea Photo (her tagline is "the mountains made me do it" so clearly we are fans). She was on her way to a Tiny House Festival in Georgia! Based on our interest and current way of life we thought why not! Well... it took a few mentions to convince Dylan. For those of you who don't know, the engineer in him typically likes to operate in a more structured manner and since this festival was going to take us justttt a little bit out of the way we had to discuss pros and cons. Pros and cons are super helpful by the way and something we do now pretty much weekly. Reflection in general is amazingly beneficial and not something that comes natural to some of us (me). So as you might have guessed, the pros outweighed the cons and yay... 2017 Georgia Tiny House Festival here we come!
Pulling in!
Finally found an open spot to camp!! (kidding, there was SO much room)
The festival took place in Eatonton, Georgia on La La Lavender Farm (yes, another pro). We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were one of the first campers to pull in. I do have to say the group running the festival was a tad bit disorganized and when I say tad I mean extremely disorganized. Anyhow, we finally found the farm and where we were supposed to camp just in time to make the "VIP Red Carpet World Premiere" of Living Tiny Legally: Part 2. The film was extremely well done! It dives into benefits of living tiny anddd the potential legal hurdles you will run into along the way. Want to get inspired right now!? Part 1 is available on youtube for your (free) viewing pleasure.
Evening stroll through a few homes
Day 2 was spent exploring every single tiny house onsite. We took a few breaks for the important stuff (another pro) and participated in a battery workshop, composting toilet workshop, Felice Cohen's "How to Live Large in a Tiny Space" talk and Michelle Boyle's "Upcycling is the New Black" info session. If you are looking for a new podcast, check out Michelle's TinyHouse Podcast where she chats about everything well, tiny.
Really like this stair set up
One way to install solar...
Checking out the kitchen window view
Tiny homes everywhere!
Fell in love with this Mustard Seed home!

Inside the "upstairs" (haha) of my favorite tiny home
View from the bedroom
They are all less than 9' wide!
One of Dylan's favorite tiny homes by Tiny House Atlanta, he loved the large window across the front.
This house had a bathtub! Can you see it in the back?
So this piano turns into a BED... If you want to check my facts, watch this YouTube vid... I am still in shock
Battery workshop, yes!
Felice Cohen's "Living Large in a Small Space" session
Dylan taking evening pics from "the school yard." These three buses were completely gutted and rennovated into beautiful homes. Trust us.
Our RV sistas
They realy do come in all shapes and sizes
Tiny trailers + full sized charis + fire pit = Home Sweet Home
Our final day was spent exploring every single tiny house AGAIN :) We also attended Mandy's "Live Mobile (she lives in a teardrop)... Live Tiny... Live Free" talk. My favorite take away was "pee in every bathroom" obviously meaning, never miss an opportunity... case and point: 2017 Georgia Tiny House Festival!
Mandy talking ways to camp... In 9 month she has only had ONE what we call "Waldocking" experiences!
Another beautiful day for tiny house exploration!
Switchgrass Tiny Homes are a few great guys out of Champaign, IL building clean and simple designs.
We also really enjoyed Bryan's Harmony Tiny Home designs out of Alabama
One of the best bags I have ever seen... "I'm Not Small I'm Fun Sized"
This makes us happy. Thanks La La Lavender Farm.
